A 29-year-old has died after robbing a Co-op store with a friend in Ashby

A 29-year-old has died after robbing a Co-op store with a friend in Ashby, Leicestershire at about 10pm on Thursday. As passersby held down the suspected robber, his friend mounted the sidewalk in his Audi in an attempt to get the group away from the man. Leicestershire police said that when officers arrived to arrest the man who had been captured by passersby, he had 'taken ill' and was rushed to hospital. The man's condition was initially described as 'critical' following his admission on Thursday - but he later died in hospital on Saturday morning. A 24-year-old man, thought to be one of the onlookers who foiled the suspected raider's getaway was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
