Here's what we know so far about the potential impasse:
- La Liga chiefs believe they have a case under Spanish law to block the sale of Neymar. President Javier Tebas said on Wednesday they had "doubts this money is in accordance with UEFA Financial Fair Play rules."
- Neymar needs to buy himself out of his contract. To do that, his lawyers (with PSG lawyers because they'll be providing the money) need to go to La Liga HQ and pay up. Then he becomes a free agent and can move to PSG as such.
- However, Under FIFA rules, an international transfer certificate will not be issued if there is no "mutual agreement" over the early termination of a contract.
- UEFA sources have told Sky Sports News they do not believe the transfer can be blocked by La Liga, but the matter is likely to be referred for FIFA to resolve.
- The likely outcome? Barcelona will put pressure on La Liga to accept the money because they want their £200m to spend on new signings. The less likely outcome is that it ends up in Spanish court.
